Dubai The Magnificent -- Head ya Tail -- 2 sides of a coin

The heading of this article defines or rather simplifies my understanding and take on this city and on life in general....

Coming form a very protective background and one that saw blackboard through my schooling / college days and books through those nights I had hardly dreamt of a life away form home... NOT because of fear of not being able to take care of myself but fear of not knowing whats out there..

Anyway life called out to me and gave me a chance to put a lost childhood behind and explore a bit and I answered without a moments hesitation..

Minus the crying and sobs back home i was warned of the evils and perils that await me in life... Well this is when i used gods greatest gifts to man "2 ears" took in the the "gyan" (big talk),retained the intelligent stuff, threw out the rubbish... and decided to take life as it comes my way.

So 27Th April 2008 I landed on a man made paradise "DUBAI". The first thing that took me by the collar and dropped a pumping heart to ground ZERO was the the view of hot dry parched thirsty sand outside my plane window just before we turned for Dubai... I can never forget that feeling... but that lasted 2 seconds and then the high risers of a city built to drop jaws.....

Dubai to me can be looked at in 2 ways,

1. A torrid desserts trying to become a paradise among dictators OR

2. A land of Paradise ruled by visionaries of the future....

It's all about how you perceive it and look at a situation -- A mind game... I was clearly hit by the later of the 2. I saw a land that had everything going for itself even though the gods had written it off... Yes there are laws that you wish never existed, there is the heat that makes you take a potato peeler and peal off your skin but beyond that there is so much more...

The "est" city I call it, because nothing with Dubai is simple "THE BIGGEST MALL" / "THE BEST OF CARS" / "THE TALLEST BUILDING" / "THE MOST EXPENSIVE OF HOTELS" and the soon the whole world just an hours ride off the coast of Dubai...

It's been around 4 months that have spent here and Dubai sends out some key learning's (mind my research language) for all of us:

1. Never let fate determine your condition

2. No one is perfect but its how you take control that hides your faults

3. Never give up until you have given it your BEST

4. Use your resources and ability to the maximum

5. CHANGE is the only thing CONSTANT in this world

How people look at the city is their choice.. what I advice is look beyond the pain.. there are a lot more things to smile about and wonder about.....

Dubai is a prime example of this very statement.. it saw and accepted its fate as a dessert and converted its present to a city where you have a fountain in the middle of a road throwing water 20 feet into the air throughout the day...

I would like to end here with one question....

Imagine you are a parent (mom / dad) you give birth to 2 children.. One is perfect in every way.. smart talented and a complete out performer.. the other is mentally unstable or week whom would you love more....... or would you even love one more than the other... .I know i would not..

Life is beautiful.. let us not waste it cribbing of how it could be better.. But lets begin to live it and bask in its glory....
